Through collaboration with firms focused on the future of legal practice, the Walter AI Assistant is transforming how corporate legal work gets done.
Managing option exercises has often meant chasing down spreadsheets, confirming details over email, and manually tracking approvals. It’s inefficient for clients and time-consuming for legal teams.
Walter now offers a simpler, more structured way to manage this process with our new self-serve exercise request feature.
Option holders invited to the platform can now submit exercise requests directly from their stakeholder portal, where they already have access to:
If any portion of an option grant has vested, they’ll see a Request Exercise button. From there, they can choose the quantity they want to exercise, whether full or partial, and submit the request in just a few clicks.
They’ll receive email notifications as their request moves through each step, including when it’s approved or denied and when the shares have been issued.
Once a request is submitted, the client workspace admin is notified and can take action directly in Walter. They can review, then approve or deny the request.
If approved, Walter automatically creates the exercise transaction and a draft share issuance, both linked to the original grant. This gives clients a complete view of the full history, from the initial grant through to the exercise and resulting issuance, all in one place.
There is no need to re-enter information or coordinate over email. Everything stays centralized, traceable, and tied to the records your firm already manages in Walter.
